Vehicle Movement

Postby Dark Entropy on April 1st, 2012, 11:36 am

Can vehicles be moved from any direction from their hull or from the front or back directions? In otherwords a rhino that is sideways be picked up and sideways a distance away or does it have to be pivoted in the direction it wants to go.

consult page 57 of the rulebook and interpret as you see fit. Be prepared to defend your point of view with a 5 page essay.

I agree. I have read 57 and found no evidence eitheir way. I have seen other players do this where I have in the past have not. Oh well.

I move my tanks however I want as long as they don't come within 1" of an enemy model.

Please people. Let's keep some kind of sincerity in our movements is all I ask. Remember, vehicles do not "power slide" so don't move it side ways. If you are ever in doubt of any type of movement, turn it the way it should be facing as if it were moving in that direction, and then after that is done, turn it on the spot to whatever the final facing you want to show. If we keep that mantra true, then you should never have any issues with how you are moving.

I agree a hundred percent with Haf, and also i hate when people move and vehicle in one direction then put it back where it was(maybe) and then move in a complete different direction. annoying

I do this a lot so please forgive me :). But that being said, I also noticed that in the rulebook it mentions that once you move a vehicle, it cannot be moved again. Basically seems like chess rules, so, once you touch the model, move it or do whatever you want, but don't come back to it after and change it. I will work on this myself :)

So then what of skimmers that can obviously move sideways, are they limited? Plus I also like to equip my tanks with an advanced treading system which allows me to powerslide into battle (because turning moving turning is too redundant.)

So not to get into a pi$$ing contest over this but if I have a rhino facing forward, i can either:

1. turn it (let's say) to the left, move it 12" and then repivot so its facing forward

or

2. Move it left 12" and end in the same spot (or of course it should be unless someone is trying to push it millimeters to gain that advantage).

bottom line is, unless you have someone cheating it should be the exact same thing...or am I mistaken?

There is a recent post that goes alot into this but focused mostly on skimmers. If you don't like turning then moving, I would suggest measuring the distance you are moving, and then place the vehicle in the heading that you wish it to face. And in regards to moving and removing a piece, treat it like chess, once your hand is off the piece, it is a set move. That usually works for me, no complaints from anyone so far.

Good game to you
Have fun storming the castle!
