???6th Edition soon to be released???

Postby Enigmai on May 30th, 2012, 8:42 am

Well folks you can no longer order a 5th edition rule book unless you purchased the starter set... It has been pulled from the virtual shelves on GW's website.

I anxiously await the new rules with baited breathe. Deep down I fear the complete destruction of the game I have played for so many years but hope for the new and improved game that may be.

The price increase has made me nauseous!

Still more questions than answers. Let's hope that all of the questions old and new are answered with the new rules (for a change).

Stay tuned for future developments.......

All this means is that we'll have to wait 12 months or more for GW to update the FAQs so they reflect the new system and in that time, the FAQs will generate more rules questions than they solve.....

Yeah, I'm an optimist.

..or to replace all the codexes. Half the rules won't apply right, and half the units will be worthless in the new world.

And those poor sops like me who play the less popular armies are out of luck for another 5 years until they get around to us again.

Looking forward to it! I havent liked any edition since 2nd although 5th was tolerable even if it did have some stupid rules like the congo line assault rule(The one where you could hit anyone in the squad but you could only hit back if you were within 2") .

Specifically looking forward to flyer rules since I love flying models(and I am building an actual Elysian army when I have time).

Hoping for more official integration of FW rules into the main game so there is no more question if they are legal or not.

I am liking the idea of Snap Fire to help protect my typically non-assaulty armies to have a chance in hell against CC armies.

Hopefully they get rid of the Congo-line rule. That was the only thing 4th had going for it and I had thought GW learned what a f'ing stupid idea it was(apparently they didnt). Also hope they get rid of the crap where if you see one guy because there isnt room behind the building for everyone you get to defy physics and shoot everyone, even if they are out of range or whatever.

A percentage based system for force org sounds pretty cool, but hopefully it is upped to mandatory 50% for troops.

min 50% troop will kill almost every necron list i have above 1000 points. There is no way i can effectively field 925 points of troops and still have enough for the supporting units (especially an HQ and court supports since courts count as HQ when paying points for them) with the models i have. If a minimum 50% troop goes through my necrons will be most likely be shelved and I'll just stop playing 40k till it changes  .

A minimum 25 or 30% troop like fantasy I already have covered though.

Back to a percentage again?

Between that and the rumored return of overwatch, perhaps 6th edition should be called Warhammer 40,000: second ed. redux.

Well rumors are extremely strong they are in fact switching to percentage based. Also that they are reducing cover saves to 5+. Vehicles have hull points in addition to being killed in one hit. Overwatch is a good mechanic but Snapfire is more likely and has been all but confirmed.
