CRUCIBLE 2 - Now featuring Warhammer 40,000!!

With 2013 right around the corner, it is with great pride and deepest pleasure that we announce the launch of the 2nd annual Crucible, a colossal wargaming throwdown right here in sunny Orlando, Florida

This year we have expanded our gaming menu to include that most popular of games set in a dark future in which there is only war - Warhammer 40K. That's right, a traditional, 6-game 40K GT will now be held right alongside all the Warmachine & Hordes action. And as if that weren't enough, Friday night will also feature a 40K team tournament! That's the equivalent of three RTTs in one weekend, except with a ton of prizes and trophies thrown in.

And, of course, Warmachine and Hordes fans will not be disappointed. We have heard your feedback and have increased the size of our Saturday Revielle qualifier to 50 points. We've also added a full blown 35 point Steamroller on Sunday - with full trophies - that will run concurrently with the Crucible(Masters). This is in addition to the Friday Hardcore tournament and another new add - Iron Arena.

We're also happy to say that we plan to use the Death clock format for all tournaments (and by 'plan' we mean we will adapt, if necessary, when the 2013 rules come out).

For anyone considering attending for the first time, take a peek through the galleries on our SITE and you'll see that high quality boards and scenery are a staple of the Crucible. We want your gaming experience to be superior. There will be no grass mats, green felt forests, or cardboard buildings!

And as if that weren't enough!! This year we have the gaming rooms for 24 hours on both Friday & Saturday, so mucho plans are in the works to pack in yet more gaming. There will be vendors on site this year as well - should you be looking to expand your collection or discover you really need a new set of dice.

So join us March 10-12, 2013 for a jam-packed weekend of wargaming under the swaying palms of the World's #1 Tourist Destination! Come! Test your mettle against a diverse field of competitors and see how you stack up against the best players in the largest event of its kind in the Southeast.

Ticket Sales are now live!! Please take time to fill out our registration form and click through the Paypal link on our SITE to lock in your spot. We have 50 spots available for both systems and payment guarantees your spot.

Forcing me to choose between warmahordes and 40k is truly dirty of you.

I will definitely be putting in an effort to make sure i have those days free. And the time between will be set to deciding... warmahordes or 40k?

Can we get a point value for the GT and the Team Tournament for 40k? :)
Statistically, you will almost certainly die when assaulting a well-maintained fortress with a competent commander. You must strive to make your death useful.

Correct on both accounts although I am feeling more comfortable with 1850 points.

Well, my personal soft-spot is for WM/H, but I won't judge you if you decide differently :)

Personally, I'm pumped to be adding 40K and bringing in a whole new group of gamers to the mix. A 6-game GT is something the Necro (for those who remember it) never did, not to mention the Friday night team tourney. Should be 40K overload.

And if you're keen to just drink and socialize on Friday or Saturday evening, we've got some other gaming being arranged that I'm going to keep a lid on until we've got things completely ironed out. . .

Now if only we could get a big fantasy tournament in the central Florida area (Necronomicon was the only one to my knowledge).

Glad to hear you were so successful last year, and I wish you more luck this year. I'll play in a Warma/Hordes tourny eventually, but it wont be till I get better at the game (maybe next year).

Ah, but you see, Crucible 2 is next year :)

We'll be running Iron Arena this year, too, so you can literally just play casually the entire weekend and still win prizes. Or you can dip your toes in any of the tournaments (aside from the Masters, which has to be qualified for) and get some of that as well.

But to your original statement, Warhammer Fantasy is the game I cut my competitive gaming teeth on. I'd love to add it in future years, but right now we have to grow at a pace we can manage. I'm not completely sure the community is back to where it can support it either, but hopefully time will change that. I still say no other game creates the kind of spectacle on the board that WHFB does and 8th edition is a lot of fun!
